Please and Thank You

Do you ever notice if you say thank you or please more? This was something that was brought up as I was listening to the preacher talk at the memorial service I attended this past weekend.

Mommy is Single: Blame Her

Mommy is Single: Blame Her

I quickly think back to Murphy Brown being criticized by Vice President Dan Quayle when he said that it was wrong to a television character to be portrayed as a single mother. Did everyone forget about Kate and Ally? Two strong willed women raising their children together in the same house? Just because there were two parents doesn’t mean that they weren’t single.

New Year and a New You

New Year and a New You

You have probably been saying that every single December! Writing down your goals, desired weight, scoping out gyms and making lists of what you will or won’t do in the following year.

We are all guilty of this; Even if it is silly like not cussing as much. This year mine was much bigger. It wasn’t drop an excessive amount of weight or go back to school but become a vegetarian.

Saying Good-Bye to 2011 with Project Kinect

Saying Good-Bye to 2011 with Project Kinect

by Gregg Potter (Wisconsin Dells, WI USA)

It’s Tuesday, December 13th.  We’re on the stretch of the twelve days of Christmas and into the final stretch of 2011.  Where does that leave me?

I am normally someone who reflects often but I never really spend a ton of time reflecting on the past year as we approach New Years.  For some reason, this year just seems to be different. I am in a spot right now that I had never imagined when I began this year.  Where I would be was undefined, but I was confident that it wouldn’t be working a restaurant job in my home town.  That, unfortunately, saddens me a little and it shouldn’t.  I have no reason in the world to be sad and that is why it is necessary for me to do a check on what I have accomplished, have had huge hurdles with, and how have evolved in that span of three hundred and sixty-five days.

Naughty or Nice?

Naughty or Nice?

When you think of Santa Claus you usually think of a red suit and a white beard. If you are a parent who celebrates Christmas, you think where and when can I get my child’s picture taken with Santa. Santa gets us on the track of receiving gifts and questioning whether we deserve the gifts.  As a child, you thought to yourself, “Have I been naughty or nice?” Pretty much because this is what you are told in school and/or at home; unless you are extremely nice, Santa will not bring you those gifts you hope for.

Holiday Gift Guide 2011: Wearable Gifts

Holiday Gift Guide 2011: Wearable Gifts

Wearable gifts can be extremely tricky.  People are finicky so sometimes clothing is the absolute no when it comes to shopping for people.  This year we decided to go with some exotic and some simple staples that can be loved by the pickiest of people.  We really are proud of our finds on this one.  Well, everything except for the very last one.  Gregg put it in here and even though we don’t support his decision, our “out of the cage” time is important to us.

Holiday Gift Guide 2011: Gifts That Pamper

Holiday Gift Guide 2011: Gifts That Pamper

One of the best ways to give is to give gifts that force your loved ones to take care of themselves.  We so often don’t take the time to make sure that we are ok that in a way, it is our responsible to makes sure that others are taking the time to pamper themselves.  This year Dina and Gregg decided to add some very specific gifts to make sure that the people around you can feel like kings and queens.

Holiday Gift Guide 2011: Electronics & Electronics Accessories

Knowing that there is a geek in all of us, this year our electronics gifts go from the extremely practical to the extremely geeky down to
outright almost ludicrous. You have to remember that this is Dina and Gregg’s gift guide and not mine. If it was mine, everyone in your life would be getting a brand new home made ice cream maker. MMmmmmmmm icecream! Doesn’t that sound delicious?
